Black & Grey Tattoos

Where classic monochrome shades and intricate shading techniques create stunning pieces — from soft portrait realism to crisp fine-line blackwork.

Shading that reads like graphite

Black and grey is the most unforgiving style in tattooing — there is no color to hide behind. Every gradient has to be built whip-shade by whip-shade, which is exactly why our lead artist Theo has spent a decade specializing in it.

We work from high-contrast references, sculpt the design to your anatomy, and pack blacks to stay black. The result is monochrome work with depth that photographs soft and heals with its contrast intact.

Built for your skin tone

Grey-wash behaves differently on every complexion. We test your personal palette on paper first, then tune needle depth and dilution so mid-tones stay visible for years — not months — on light and deep skin alike.

Questions

Before you book

Does black and grey hurt more?

No — the sensation is the same as color work. Large soft-shaded areas are often gentler than packed color.

How do I prepare a reference?

Bring high-resolution photos with strong light and shadow. Three to five references are plenty; we draw the rest.

Will it fade to blue-green?

Cheap ink does that. We use premium carbon-based blacks and proper depth, plus sunscreen guidance, so it stays neutral.
